Good health involves our minds, our bodies, our organs, and so much more. Of course, exercise is helpful. And eating proper foods and smaller portions is part of a healthy routine. The proper amount of sleep also plays a major role in our health. But sometimes, people are born with problems that exercise, eating properly, and 8 hours of sleep every night can't cure.
As one of those people who was born with an uncurable health issue, I can testify how that can affect the mind. I was really down when I found out there was no cure for my multiple eye problems. For a couple of weeks, it was hard to think of anything positive.
My mother practices positivity, though, and was, thankfully, able to help me refocus to have a healthier mindset. She explained how Helen Keller was blind and deaf but went on to live a very fulfilling life. She also used Saul/Paul from the Bible as an example of someone else who had eye problems (thorn in his side). God used Paul's weakness to push His message forward, and Paul was pleased that God could use his weakness and was eager to use the talents God had given him despite his inability to see well.
From the picture diary of my eyes during a dry eye attack, which causes redness, swelling, itching, discomfort, and blurrier vision. If I don't keep my eyes moist enough on a daily basis, the corneas can tear, causing extreme pain.
My point is we can think ourselves into worse conditions. And now, my focus is on doing what I can for my body and organs and being grateful for the daily medication drops that help keep my eyes from hurting most of the time even if I don't see very well. I'm also grateful for my eye doctor who is very caring and empathetic to my problems. She is also very positive and upbeat, and I always enjoy my visits with her.
So, alongside proper diet, exercise, and sleep is positive thinking and how to attain those positive thoughts, which is what I'll talk about often in this blog. These are all things that we all need to practice daily to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And I hope to help others just as Paul and Helen were able to do. Because helping others, as my parents continuously point out, is another healthy lifestyle choice.
